Beneficial effects of a new polyphenol-rich supplement on glucose metabolism in free-living insulin resistant human subjects

We determined the effects of a polyphenol-rich strawberry and cranberry extract, Glucophenol™, on insulin sensitivity (euglycemic-hyperinsulinemic clamp), glucose tolerance and insulin secretion, in free-living overweight subjects presenting resistance to insulin. The study was a parallel, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled, 6-wk intervention trial (n=41).Glucophenol™ significantly improved insulin sensitivity by 31% and represents a promising alternative to improve the metabolic profile of type 2 diabetes subjects.
