Millennials and microbiota probiotics are on the agenda for a two day food supplements event taking place in September.

The first international congress on food supplements and innovation hosted by NutriForm Business Days will take place in France.

Discussing topics of science, marketing and expertise, the event will be made up of plenary sessions, discussion groups and networking opportunities.

The event will be run in partnership with NutriForm magazine and ACTIF’s magazine.

Editorial director of both magazines and organiser of the event, Philippe Millet, spoke to NutraIngredients about what attendants can expect.

“A couple of months ago, we met with people from the supplements industry and from the ingredients side. The keys players from both sides of this industry told us there was no event dedicated to their main problems. They wanted to have in one place, over a short time, all the answers to all the questions that they have to face,” he said.

“Questions like what is the legislation today, what are the main trends, in what ways could legislation evolve, what are consumers waiting for…”

Over the course of two days, the event will host speakers such as Robert Anton from EFSA, Ellen Schutt from GOED and Dr. Catherine Bennetau-Pelissero from the University of Bordeaux.

On top of the talks from experts in the fields, attendants will be given the option to go to ‘supplier meetings’ where six different suppliers will be giving presentations on their latest innovations.

The congress is aimed at food supplement brands and laboratories, sub-contractors and custom producers, and ingredient and raw material suppliers, giving key players in the industry a chance to chat informally.

“Eric [Gérard, director of Editions BGM] and I would like to make this event very friendly. We chose Saint-Raphael because it is a small city and the congress will be held in a place near the port, with total access to the port with a view of the sea,” Millet said.

He continued to explain that normally brands in the industry do not have a chance to meet together apart from at shows and his vision was to create a friendly atmosphere where this would be possible.

The conference is international and depending on the attendants, some talks will be given in French and others in English, although all will have translations.

The event will run from the 13-14 September.
