Roller mill cuts egg yolks down to size

A new roller mill on the market can reduce frozen egg yolks or other friable foods to a uniform diced particle size.

Equipped with 8 by 50 in. rolls (20.3 by 127 cm), the Frozen Egg Yolk Gran-U-Lizer 900.EY from Modern Process Equipment Corp. handles products that are breakable.

It reduces frozen egg yolk patties to uniform particle size suitable for diced egg product applications, reducing the amount of sifting required for such food products, the company claims.

The roller mill features a wash down construction. Modern Process Equipment manufactures particle reduction equipment.

The company's Gran-U-Lizer models are used for products that are friable. Frozen egg yolks provide the ideal application for particle reduction from an egg yolk "patty" to a finished particle size, the company says.

"Other applications, wherein the friable products need to be reduced to a uniform particle size, would also be ideal for the model IMD 9 Gran-U-Lizer," the company stated in releasing the egg yolk mill.
