US ingredients manufacturer for the pharmaceutical, nutritional and beverage industries, Polyphenolics Inc., announced this week that it has received Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) affirmation for MegaNatural® Gold Grape Seed Extract and MegaNatural® GSKE Grape Skin Extract, purified concentrated phenolic/flavanoid compounds.

The products are now pronounced safe for use in beverages. According to Anil Shrikhande, president, Polyphenolics, Inc.,these products are synergistic with vitamins C and E and will give double the antioxidant capacity when used in combination with either of these vitamins.

" The GRAS determination now extends the permitted uses for MegaNatural® Gold Grape Seed Extract and GSKE Grapes Skin Extract beyond the nutraceutical arena and into the mass-market beverage segment," said Shrikhande.

Polyphenolics extracts are produced in California wineries of the Canandaigua Wine Co. from unfermented grapes using a solvent-free, water extraction process.
