“Over the past decade or two, there has been a surge in the publication of research findings and developments in the field, although often in a non-targeted and fragmentary manner,” wrote the journal’s editor-in-chief, Fereidoon Shahidi from the Memorial University of Newfoundland. “Therefore, to fill the existing gap, the launch of a dedicated journal for functional foods was deemed necessary.”
The first issue (Volume 1, Issue 1) is published this month by Elsevier.
