Review supports health benefits of dairy

Three to four servings a day of dairy foods may benefit child nutrition, help with bone and cardiovascular health, and help maintain weight, according to a new review.

A supplement to the current issue of the Journal of the American College of Nutrition provides an update of the potential health benefits of dairy foods.

Research cited in the review indicates that these nutrients contribute to several health benefits, including child nutrition in order to meet calcium and magnesium recommendations, bone health, cardiovascular health with low-fat and fat-free dairy foods playing a key role in the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet, weight management as studies suggest a favorable impact on body composition.
