An app has been launched containing 70,000 ingredients of all varieties which seeks to accelerate R&D across the food and supplements industries.

Illinois-based Underwriters Laboratories has introduced the Prospector app and promoted it at the recent Food Ingredients Europe (FiE) trade show in Paris.

“Aimed at speeding up the search for ingredients and accelerating the R&D process, the database is kept up to date by UL’s experts so that users can be sure the information is always current,” said the firm.

The database features healthy and functional ingredients across 80 categories providing data such as technical datasheets, safety information, certification details and starter formulations.

“Nowadays, people want solutions which are easy and spontaneously accessible while they are travelling, in meetings or working from home,” said food industry champion at UL, Jill Frank.

It is available in seven languages.
