DSM has debuted Tolerase L, an acid lactase enzyme aimed at those people that are lactose intolerant and seeking digestive health solutions via food supplements.

Lactase has been backed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in a claim that states, "lactase enzyme contributes to breaking down lactose1”.

"Lactase deficiency is a condition that causes significant discomfort and can have a negative effect onquality of life,” said Wouter Nieboer, global business manager.

“People with lactose intolerance often choose to stop consuming dairy products which may lead to calcium deficiency as dairy products are a main dietary source for calcium. Deficiency in calcium can put bone health at risk.”
