Botanical experts will discuss the challenges and opportunities in the botanicals category in 2017 and beyond in a FREE online conference hosted by NutraIngredients-USA.

The world of botanical extracts has grown out of centuries-old traditions in Asia, Latin America and Africa to spawn a multi-billion dollar global industry.

Botanicals from ginseng to sea buckthorn to St John’s wort have entered the mainstream with some national polls showing upwards of 75% of citizens buy botanicals at least once a year for an array of ailments or just to stay healthy and optimized.

No longer just the preserve of specialist health food stores, herbal supplements have entered the popular shelves – both in store and online.

But the sector is complex and their popularity has meant issues of authentication and adulteration have arisen priming the need for strict QC epitomized by the most serious firms and trade bodies.

The NutraIngredients-USA Botanicals Online Conference will be held on July 13, and brings together world-class experts for a fertile discussion about the sector’s challenges and opportunities.

Conference agenda

The event will open with a discussion between Dr Rick Kingston, President, Regulatory and Scientific Affairs, SafetyCall International and Clinical Professor of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota, and Roy Upton, RH, DipAyu, President of the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia, on the risks and rewards of botanicals.

This will be followed by a panel discussion about current issues in the botanicals marketplace featuring: Mark Blumenthal, Founder and Executive Director of the American Botanical Council; Mark Brush, Consultant and former editor of the Nutrition Business Journal; and Steven Dentali, PhD, Consultant at Dentali Botanical Sciences.

The event will be moderated by Hank Schultz, Senior Correspondent, NutraIngredients-USA. For more information and to register, please click HERE.
