Croda to launch high concentrate lipids

UK chemicals company Croda is to launch two new highly concentrated lipids at the Vitafoods health trade show in May.

Incromega E7010 is a 70 per cent concentrate of eicospentaenoic acid (EPA), which is said to offer a total 90 per cent omega-3 lipids, and is designed for joint and skin health products.

 

The company is also launching a 70 per cent grade of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), for use in supplements for cognitive function and eye health.

 

Croda , which supplies a range of high purity marine and plant lipid concentrates (65 per cent DHA and EPA, 40 per cent GLA) for specific health conditions, recently announced it was to expand its lipid production facilities in the UK following increased demand for its products in nutraceuticals.

 

Recent research has demonstrated the cardioprotective benefits of combinations of omega-3 and 6 polyunsaturated fatty acid concentrates, EPA, DHA and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).

 

Croda will also launch a hydrolysed wheat protein, called Pro V2, at the show, which the company claims has a high content of bioavailable, soluble glutamine to stimulate muscle growth and recovery. The product is designed for easy incorporation into functional foods and beverages.

 

Vitafoods is taking place at the Palexpo centre in Geneva from 13-15 May 2003.
