GAT's proprietary microencapsulation technology was designed as a technology platform leading to microencapsulated ingredients with the same characteristics in terms of handling, processing, and stability, regardless of what functional ingredient is being used. The microencapsulated active ingredients remain unaffected by process parameters including pasteurization, homogenization, and high temperatures and are stable from the point of incorporation until consumption.
GAT's microencapsulated functional food ingredients have been successfully incorporated into a variety of foods and beverages including dairy products, fruit juices and concentrates, cereals and baked goods, as well as meats and convenience foods. The sensorial properties and shelf-lives of the foods and beverages, whether chilled or ambient, are not affected by the addition of GAT's products as no oxidation or degradation of the active ingredients can occur. GAT's product portfolio consists of four main categories: PUFAs (omega-3 from fish oil or flax oil), Antioxidants (polyphenols from red wine), Minerals (iron from iron gluconate and lactate), and "Specialties" (customized formulation developments).
