In recent years, sustainability of fish oils has been a hot topic for the nutritional market and a recognised top priority for both Croda and our customers.
There is however, no globally accepted definition as to what ‘sustainable’ fishing entails nor consistent regulation on the supply of fish oil based products at a regional, national or global level. Croda has spent considerable time reviewing the accreditations linked to sustainability and in late 2010 decided to apply for Chain of Custody certification within the International Fishmeal and Fish Oil Organisation’s Global Standard for Responsible Supply (IFFO-RS). |
