Product lines include yeast extracts, hydrolyzed vegetable proteins, as well as salt and MSG replacers. Organic yeast extracts were then developed to join the product portfolio as the Savorganic™ line.
Yeast extracts are versatile ingredients that can be used in a variety of applications. From soups, sauces, snack foods, gravies, and many more foods, yeast extracts act as flavor enhancers to round out savory flavor profiles, as well as aid in sodium reduction.
Salt replacers act as flavor catalysts, adding flavor and enhancement to the perception of salt, while adding depth to the core flavors, in order to round out the complete flavor profile. Typical applications of salt replacers include salad dressings, meat marinades and sauces, processed meat, soups, breads, and snack foods. Savoury Systems offers several salt replacers for different applications.
In addition to the above mentioned product categories, yeast extracts may also be used in cheese products. Savoury Systems developed a particular product to be used as a cheese enhancer in cheddar cheese. It utilizes a bakers’ yeast extract to develop the flavor of a six month ageing in six weeks.
