US soy processor Natural Products is opening a new manufacturing facility to make non-GMO flour available with flexible profiles. The facility comes in response to recent worldwide demand for new sources of low-fat soy flour.
Natural Products customers will be able to specify different identity-preserved products (including organic and high protein) and particle sizes. Sales manager Paul Lang said that NPI's flour also has an improved flavour profile and functional properties.
Lang added that given the worldwide concern over GM food, the new facility "is primarily serving an export-driven market."
"We hope this is the first of many low-fat products based on this flour. In the future, we will have textured products available," he said.
The Iowa-based company did not specify when the additions to the product range would be made available to customers.
