Tropicana has introduced an orange juice specially targeting children's nutrition, to coincide with children returning to school after holidays . Tropicana Pure Premium Healthy Kids is fortified with vitamins A, E and C and calcium and other nutrients found in orange juice.
"Two-thirds of all six to 12 years olds do not get enough calcium," said Dr Carla McGill, a Tropicana nutrition scientist. "And we find that their diets are low in antioxidants such as vitamins A and E. Folate is another nutrient of which kids are not getting enough and orange juice is a naturally good source of this as well."
The company also pointed to the USDA report that 91 per cent of kids from six to 11 do not get the recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables each day. A serving of Tropicana juice could equal a fruit serving for this gauge.
Tropicana Pure Premium Healthy Kids contains FruitCal, is a highly absorbable calcium. Vitamins A, C and E are essential antioxidants that promote a healthy immune system.
Healthy Kids will be available across the US in mid-summer. It is packaged in a 64-ounce carton and single serve (8 oz), on-the-go sizes in a six-pack.
Tropicana Products is a division of PepsiCo and claims to be the world's leading producer and marketer of branded fruit juices.
