Members of the health foods industry in the Middle East have a new association which aims to bring together all segments of the organic and natural products industry in the region. The Association of Middle East Organic & Natural Trade (AMON), is based in Jordan but plans to expand to other regions of the Middle East.
AMON said it hopes to create a stage for the industry to discuss the best ways to develop the industry alongside promoting awareness and a better understanding of the usage of natural and organic products. Secretary general Atef Mohd Atef Qassim said the body was hoping "to evolve a new generation of people craving a healthy lifestyle".
The first general meeting of the association will be held during the summer, when the body will nominate the board of directors and the president. The association plans to hold conferences on a regular basis to further understanding of the industry and benefits of organic foods. A major exhibition is planned for December this year, likely to take place in Dubai.
