Cinnamon solution for diabetes
dietary supplement from a water extract of cinnamon, which is
designed to promote glucose metabolism by increasing insulin
sensitivity.
Water extract of cinnamon has been found in studies by the USDA to promote glucose metabolism in diabetics and reduce LDL cholesterol levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes.
"Cinnulin PF is a water extract of cinnamon which contains active compounds to help control glucose levels without the harmful toxins found in whole cinnamon or fat-soluble extracts," said Dr. Richard Anderson, research scientist at USDA. "That makes CinnaBeticII safe for long-term use in managing symptoms associated with diabetes."
A recent study published in Diabetes Care magazine revealed that individuals treated with cinnamon for a period of 40 days showed decreases in fasting glucose levels of 18 - 29 percent, cholesterol decreases of 12 -26 percent, and decreases in triglycerides of 23 - 30 percent (Khan, A, et al. Diabetes Care 26:3215-3218, 2003).
Moreover, according to recent USDA research spearheaded by Dr. Anderson, the water extraction process leaves type-A polymers responsible for glucose metabolism intact, while removing potentially dangerous compounds found in cinnamon (Anderson, R, et al. J. Agric. Food Chem. 52:65-70, 2004).
"CinnaBeticII offers diabetes sufferers an all-natural, clinically proven safe and effective means to help manage blood glucose metabolism and reduce cholesterol levels," said Jennifer Hodges, founder and CEO of Hero Nutritionals.
Diabetes increased by one-third during the 1990s, due to the prevalence of obesity and an aging population. There are currently more than 194 million people with diabetes worldwide but if nothing is done to slow the epidemic, the number will exceed 333 million by 2025, according to the International Diabetes Federation.
