Moscow hosts global supplements meeting

Scientific and regulatory experts from Russia, the European Union, China and the US are set to meet in Moscow next month to discuss food supplements and the global regulatory systems that govern them.

Up for discussion are global trends and regulatory frameworks; methods and approaches to quality control; clinical studies and risk assessment and health claims substantiation.

“It is an honour to be partnering with the Russian organisations on such an important international event,”​ said International Alliance of Dietary/Food Supplement Associations (IADSA) chairman and attendee, Byron Johnson.

“The Russian Federation has enormous scientific expertise in the area of food supplements and there is much that experts from other countries can learn.”

Also in attendance will be Dr G.G. Onishenko, head of Russia’s Federal Office of Surveillance of Consumer Right Protection and Wellbeing; Basil Mathioudakis, head of the European Commission’s Unit on Food Law, Nutrition and Labelling; Jinjing Zhang, deputy director general, Department of Food Safety Coordination, State Food and Drug Administration, P.R. China and Dr Tatiana Pilat, chair of the Council of Dietary Supplement and Healthy Food Producers of Russia (CDSP).
