Chinese ingredients supplier Fenchem has opened an office in Vitkovice, Czech Republic with the aim of doubling the size of its European business.

The new facilities in the Ostrava region in the north east of the country include an administration centre, warehouse, transportation and delivery system together with a sales office. The site is expected to employ up to 10 local people.

Jenny Liu, a spokesperson for Fenchem China told NutraIngredients.com: “The office will allow us to supply a better service to our European customers – particularly those in central Europe.”

Fenchem produces soft capsules, hard capsules and tablets in fixed and custom product formulations.

Natural Vitamin E

In addition to its range of fish oil, natural vitamin E and multi-vitamin products, the company also produces tailor-made multi-nutrients premixes for human supplements, dairy products and other foods.

Lui is upbeat about the prospects for growth of Fenchem’s European business: “With the new office established, we are confident that we will double our European turnover over the next three years. Europe is our main target market. With our new European base, Fenchem will pay more attention to local regulations and to developing more products that cater to European customers’ needs.”

The company was the first Chinese firm to gain an IP certificate for natural tocopherols and phytosterols in 2004, it said. And in 2006, it became the only Chinese manufacturer to receive an EU novel foods application to EU for phytosterols.

Fenchem products destined for success in the European market include its natural vitamin E ingredient, organic inulin and amino acid, according to the company. Competitive prices and swift delivery are twin keys to the success in the European market, it said.

The company also expects to expand into the European market for food additives and cosmetic ingredients. Fenchem China launched into these markets last year.

Contract manufacturing

Meanwhile, last month Fenchem launched a contract manufacturing service designed, it said, to help customers lower their production costs.

“We can do the entire process for our customer, from raw materials sourcing, producing, packaging to shipment delivery,” said a company statement.
