The Global Organisation for EPA and DHA omega-3s (GOED) has welcomed two more members as Golden Omega and Fenchem join the trade association.

Golden Omega becomes the first South American company to join GOED as a top-tier Leadership Member. Golden Omega will sit on the organization’s board of directors, where it can provide input and influence key industry and regulatory decisions, said the company.

In related news, the Chile-headquartered company has announced that start-up production began at its new $65 million omega-3 fish oil processing plant in northern Chile. Full-scale continuous production should begin in March, said Michael Fisher, managing director of Golden Omega USA.

Fenchem

GOED has also welcomed Fenchem to the fold after the Chinese ingredients supplier included fish oil ingredients in its product portfolio just a year ago.

Fenchem said membership of the Global Organisation for EPA and DHA omega-3s (GOED) demonstrated its commitment to quality production and innovation.

In October 2011, GOED partnered with the Chinese Nutrition Society for a symposium in Beijing as part of its strategy to expand in China.

Adam Ismail, executive director of GOED, told our sister publication FoodNavigator-Asia.com that the association wanted to expand its membership in China with responsible companies that manufacture high quality products and market them ethically.
