1.Yum cha
Yum Cha, a new ice tea, is set to launch to the UK market this summer.
The tea, which launched into mainland Europe in 2014, has seen huge success in Holland and France, as well as Germany, Estonia, Poland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, the owner Guy Woodall said. The drinks have also are stocked in Dubai and Qatar.
The range offers Earl Grey, made from a blend that includes oil extracted from the rind of the bergamot orange, Sour Plum, one of China’s most popular summer drinks, and Moroccan Mint, which uses Gunpowder green tea blended with fresh spearmint leaves.
Owner Woodall started the brand after trying to uncover why commercial ice tea did not taste of tea.
He found it was linked to the way the drinks were preserved, which involved acidifying the tea. The process neutralised the tea flavour but also meant high levels of sugar need to be added to balance the acid taste.
This tea range is not in a ‘ready to drink’ format but produced as concentrate.
