A total of 33 advertisements that did not comply with EU food laws were found during an investigation carried out by The Czech Agriculture and Food Investigation Authority last year.

The adverts were mostly for food supplements that were being sold online.

The authority said that many of the adverts boasted health or curative claims, not authorised under the 2006 EU nutrition and health claims regulation (NHCR).

The Czech authority has published a guide on their website on how to buy safely online to reduce the risk to consumers.

The authority did not comment on whether any arrests had been made.
