Belgium’s Federal Agency for Food Chain Safety (AFSCA) warns those allergic to dairy to avoid a soy protein supplement after authorities identify milk as a non-listed allergen ingredient.

In agreement with the AFSCA, supplement retailer Biogenix has decided to withdraw the product from the sale and to inform the consumers who purchased the product, ‘SOJAVIT 85, (soy protein isolate) dietary supplement.’

“If you have a milk allergy, Biogenix asks not to consume this product and to return it to the point of sale and the product will be refunded,” the recall notice says.

“For non-allergic consumers, the product is safe and can be consumed safely.”

The product in question is a sports nutrition powder dietary supplement, produced by Poland’s Olimp Laboratories. Distributed by Biogenix’s retail premises located in Brussels, the date of expiry is ‘26-11-2019’ and the batch number is ‘02341117’.

Olimp Laboratories said they had already taken steps to withdraw the product informing retailers of the necessity to withdraw the product from sale.

Poland’s Chief Sanitary Inspectorate, head of the government administration office tasked with overseeing public health said he was “overseeing the product withdrawal from the Polish market”.
