UK-based turmeric shot brand The Turmeric Co. has partnered with SW7 Academy, a rugby training academy to help rugby players and everyday people achieve their full fitness potential.

This partnership will bring the Turmeric Co.’s raw turmeric shots into SW7 Academy’s nutrition programme and will allow for both communities to have access to elite-level fitness and nutrition support. The collaborators also plan to "inspire a wider audience to begin their wellness journeys" through various events and incentives.

The Turmeric Co., founded by professional footballer Thomas Hal Robson-Kanu, provides a range of functional turmeric shots including the Raw Turmeric Vitamin C & D3 shot which aims to support immunity, fight fatigue, repair muscles, support brain functionality and help with the maintenance of healthy bones.

Speaking on this partnership, Robson-Kanu, said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with another game-changing business that shares similar values to ours here at The Turmeric Co. - to bring elite health and wellness support to people from all walks of life."

Founded by Sam Warburton OBE and Josh Davies, SW7 Academy was established with a mission to provide elite level programming for the masses. Also catering for non-athletes by offering weight loss and muscle gain training regimes, SW7 Academy allows for their clients to access top strength & conditioning coaches with a combined experience of over 50 years.

Robson-Kanu adds: “As Sam and I are both experienced professional athletes, there is a shared understanding of the standards needed to achieve the pinnacle of fitness. This is an incredibly strong collaboration, and I look forward to hearing the incredible success stories from both communities combined.”
Warburton added: “‘SW7 Academy’s mission is to bring elite level training to the masses, so joining forces with The Turmeric Co. who provide an unrivalled product which will greatly benefit our members health & well being is a fantastic opportunity for us.
“Thomas and I feel very fortunate that our backgrounds in professional sport has educated us on the importance of health & wellbeing, and being able to share this knowledge with a wider community together makes this a fantastic partnership.”

The Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS, the UK’s national charity dedicated to bone health and osteoporosis) recently awarded The Turmeric Co's Turmeric Vitamin C & D3 shot with a Bone Health Accreditation.

Robson-Kanu said at the time: “The ROS states that consuming enough vitamin D is a vital element in bone health, and with over 3.5 million people in the UK living with osteoporosis, products like ours have a key role to play in reducing that figure and providing better bone strength across the nation.”

The full ingredients list of the shot is: Raw Turmeric Root, 1,000mg Liposomal Vitamin C, 3,000iU Liposomal Vitamin D3, Coconut Nectar, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, and Watermelon.

The liposomal vitamin C and D are encased in tiny spheres of fat, which act as carriers to increase bioavailability within the body.

Turmeric tests

Turmeric and its bioactive compound curcumin have been the subject of much research that suggests the root has a core role in physical benefits that can greatly aid physical performance.

Supplements of curcumin, may reduce pain associated with exercise, and perhaps boost performance, a study said in 2015, which found five grams per day were associated with a reduction in pain associated with delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).

Likewise a recent paper published in Sports Medicine, looked at the impact of curcumin specifically relating to muscle injury.

Along with tart cherry juice, pomegranate juice, beetroot juice, and watermelon juice, curcumin may “help to reduce symptoms of exercise-induced muscle damage and improve muscle function in a variety of populations.”

“Curcumin shows promise as a strategy to blunt the negative effects of damaging exercise, though further information is required in a wider variety of populations,” the study adds.
