Xangold® 30% high concentration natural lutein ester oils

Xangold® 30%, the new high concentration natural lutein ester oils from Cognis Nutrition & Health, have been specifically designed to help formulators and brand marketers to meet the challenge of increasing the potency of products without increasing capsule size. The Xangold® 30% products are available in soy and olive oil-based forms and provide excellent, bioavailable sources of lutein. Intended for use in food supplements and oil-based food products such as yoghurt and spreads, the Xangold® 30% products offer: nutritional value proven bioavailability high quality and excellent stability patented process technology cost-saving and manufacturing advantages Lutein esters are one of the two forms of lutein that are consumed naturally through the diet. Yellow-to-red fruits and vegetables such as peaches, squash, oranges, papaya and potatoes contain lutein esters. During digestion, the body naturally breaks apart the lutein esters and releases lutein which is then absorbed into the bloodstream. Once in the blood, it is not possible to recognize from which form (foods or supplements, free or esters) the lutein is sourced. Scientific studies have consistently shown that lutein from lutein esters has equivalent - and may even have superior - bioavailability to that of free lutein1,2 A growing body of evidence supports the role of lutein in maintaining healthy vision as the population ages and Cognis has petitioned the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a qualified health claim (QHC) linking consumption of Xangold® natural lutein esters to a reduced risk of AMD and cataract. Available in IP-certified, non-GM and kosher forms, Xangold® natural lutein esters are extracted from marigold flowers that are grown specifically for Cognis and are available in three forms: 15% oil for soft gel capsules and oil-based food products; 10% microencapsulated beadlets and 10% gelatin-free beadlets for tablets or dry foods; and now, 30% oils. Xangold® was the first source of lutein to complete the Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) notification process in January 2003.
