DSM's full year nutriton results show investment in
innovation is rewarded with strong market position, but rising
costs, high expenditure and damaging exchange rates compromised
profits.
After a 75 per cent drop in operating profit for the third quarter,
DSM's final quarter picked up, with better-than-expected turnover
at the Dutch group.
With sales and operating profit both diving in the second quarter
the summer sun is not shining on DSM with the outlook also
decidedly gloomy for the next three months. However all is not
bleak with a rebound predicted by the year...
The global economic downturn marked 2003 first quarter results for
Dutch life science company DSM, but strong autonomous volume growth
boosted figures to higher than 2002.
Dutch life science group and new owner of Roche Vitamins, DSM
reported an operating profit of €104 million in the third quarter,
up 8 per cent from the same period in 2001. The board said the
