The Global Organization for EPA and DHA (GOED) has expanded its board of directors from eight to 14 to represent growth in the association’s recent membership.

Adam Ismail, GOED’s executive director, said the bigger board will boost the association’s ability to further increase membership and expand its reach worldwide as it works to educate media, consumers and omega-3 industry companies on the latest EPA/DHA research, benefits and trends.

"Over the last year GOED's membership has expanded to be even more representative of the rapidly changing omega-3 industry," said Ismail. "Our members include ingredient companies, manufacturers, consumer product companies and traders and now our board of directors reflects that diversity."

The board of directors is: David Shannon, Croda (Chair); Baldur Hjaltason, EPAX (Vice-Chair); Robert Orr, Ocean Nutrition Canada (Treasurer); Amanda Ruess, DSM Nutritional Products (Secretary); Phillip Fass, Martek Biosciences (Past Chair); Carol Locke, Omega Natural Science; Kent Cipollo, Solae; Cynthia Crouch, DuPont; Hans de Wit, Marvesa; Josipa Paska, FINA; Bjorn Rene, Cognis; Harald Ronneberg, Denomega; Olav Sandnes, Marine Nutriceuticals; Federico Tripodi, Monsanto.
