Nutritional powders supplier Nutri Pharmaceuticals Research will
introduce a range of products with higher bioavailability thanks to
a technology based on aloe vera.

Recent research on aloe vera has shown that certain extracts of the plant can slow down the body's absorption of vitamins E and C and keep the nutrients in blood plasma for longer.

A small clinical trial reported in the November 2005 issue of Phytomedicine found that use of aloe vera improved the bioavailability of vitamin E by over 200 percent. Vitamin E is one of NPRI's top ten products.

In a new agreement, Aloecorp will supply Las Vegas-based NPR with an aloe vera crystal flake for use as a carrier matrix in its O2P oil-to-powder conversion process.

The company currently offers around 40 different powders including vitamins and plant oils like borage, flaxseed and safflower. The firms will work together on developing the new products using and both will sell them to their clients.

"We're introducing something with good science behind it," said NPRI president Godfrey Yew.
