Numico Research has received a US patent for a supplement preparation containing lecithin, red wine extract and vitamin E, said to have numerous health benefits, including help prevent cancers and heart disease.
The preparation can be taken in supplement or functional food form, such as yoghurt or spread, or used externally in a body care treatment, according to the Netherlands-based business.
The supplement could also contain numerous other herbal extracts including lycopene green tea extract, garlic extract, genistein, leucocyanidol (pycnogenol), gingko biloba leaf extract, hawthorn extract, artichoke leaf extract, Blessed milkthistle fruit extract. Ascorbic acid, B vitamins and fish oil are also possible ingredients.
The patented supplement has beneficial effects on cardiac, circulatory and rheumatic conditions, acts preventively and strengthens the immune system against cancer, according to Numico Research. It also acts against premature ageing, the patent suggests.
The carrier substance can be a dairy product, margarine, fruit juice, olive oil, a vegetable juice, yeast, pectin or cereals and other dry foods.
