Finns ban breast enhancement ‘miracle herb’

Finnish authorities have banned products based on the Thai herb, Pueraria mirifica, because it does not have European Union novel foods approval.

“The authorisation referred to in the Novel Food Regulation has not been applied for the products and there is not enough information about the safety of the product available to the consumers,”​ said the Finnish food safety agency, Evira. Products of this type may not be marketed in the EU.”

Pueraria mirifica ​is known in Thailand as White Kwao Krua. In Europe,it is mainly sold via the internet in products such as AINTEROL Pueraria, Pueraplus, Pueragold and PM PhytoGen Complex.

Pueraria mirifica​ is used in breast enhancement products because it is said to have a high concentration of phytoestrogens. One direct selling website called Pueraria mirifica ​a ‘miracle herb’.
