A US-based vitamin charity has secured its first donor from the UK nutritional industry, just one week after the organisation launched in the country.

Vitamin Angels, which was founded in the US 15 years ago by a supplement industry veteran, aims to reduce child mortality by delivering nutritional supplements to millions of undernourished children around the world.

UK-based Viridan Nutrition has signed up as a supporter to the group, which has come to be known in the US as the natural product industry’s humanitarian arm.

“Vitamin Angels enables the less well off to benefit from the natural health advantages enjoyed by health store shoppers in the UK,” said Cheryl Thallon, MD of Viridian Nutrition, which has made an immediate donation of £1000.

Vitamin Angels will use UK donations to address child malnutrition in both the UK and in underdeveloped areas around the world. Firms in the dietary supplement and nutritional food industries can partner with the group for contributions either through product or cash donations.
