Industry Movers: DSM, Corbion, Bien-Etre Labs
This Summer sees nutrition and ingredient firms continue to make a number of appointments as the ongoing pandemic threatens to halt recruitment in various industry sectors.

NutraIngredients presents a roundup of this month’s key moves in the EMEA region.

Nutrition giants Royal DSM announces that Zhou Tao (Joe) is to become the new president of DSM China effective 1 July 2020.

Joe succeeds Dr Weiming Jiang, who has led DSM China since 2007 and will continue to serve at DSM as special advisor to the global co-CEOs.

“DSM is uniquely positioned in the market as a global leader of innovative and sustainable solutions that brighten people’s daily lives through science,”​ says Zhou.

“My priorities as China president will be to fulfil DSM China’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, with purpose-led strategies to create value across the areas of People, Planet and Profit to all our stakeholders.”

Staying with DSM, the firm also announces that from 1 September 2020, and member of the firm’s executive committee.

Cristina joined DSM in 2015 as senior vice president of talent development before leading the people & organisation function for DSM’s nutrition business group in early 2018.

Reporting to Geraldine Matchett, co-CEO of DSM, Christina has previously worked for Cargill and Philip Morris International in talent development and business partnering roles.

Corbion hires

Meanwhile Corbion are to expand its algae ingredients team with the appointment of Ruud Peerbooms as both president of algae ingredients and member of the Corbion executive team.

In this role, Ruud will lead on initiatives to expand Corbion's algae business, including overseeing the company's partnerships for the development of the next generation of algae ingredients.

Ruud will be joined by Geir Ivar Lanes, who joins the team as senior business development manager leading the application of Corbion's AlgaPrime DHA ingredient. 

Rounding off Corbion’s recruitment drive for this month is Paula Arriagada Strodthoff, who joins as senior business development manager in charge of Corbion's AlgaPrime DHA work in Chile.

Bien-Etre Labs

Finally, Bien-Etre Labs announces the appointment of Steve Prescott as president of the US-based biotech firm bringing over 20 years of experience of driving product line strategies.

With a background in biochemistry and natural product synthesis, Prescott will “springboard the company’s business plan to bring best-in-class products to the world stage,”​ according to company founder Adnan Mjalli.

“I cannot imagine a better platform to pursue my life’s work than at Bien-Etre Labs,”​ adds Prescott.

“My background and experience in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical development, product manufacturing, and commercial strategy optimisation all come together to meet this exciting company’s potential.”
