Actilight® and infant nutrition: new perspectives
Addition of prebiotic ingredients to formulas started around 30 years ago and is widely recognized by experts. Actilight® scFOS is safe for use in infant formula, with a demonstrable increase in fecal Bifidobacteria and immune response modulation.
scFOS may also be given to pregnant and lactating mothers to enhance the transfer of passive immunity to neonates; they promote the establishment of gut microbiota which has benefits later in life for preventing the onset of metabolic disorders and susceptibility to inflammation.
