Aquamin outperforms calcium carbonate in pre-menopausal women bone study

Aquamin is a marine plant multi-mineral complex, derived from the cytoskeleton of the red seaweed sustainably harvested from the pristine waters off the northern coast of Iceland and is used extensively in fortification of food and nutraceutical applications.
The role of Aquamin in bone health is grounded in excellent science demonstrating real effects in increasing bone strength. Aquamin assists in maintaining bone health in a number of ways including;

  • Providing a bioavailable source of calcium and other essential trace minerals
  • Enhancement movement and physical activity by reducing symptoms associated with inflammation.
  • Influencing biochemical bone turnover markers.

Aquamin demonstrates greater influence over markers of calcium metabolism then calcium carbonate and placebo as suggested by the greater calciuric response and a more prolonged suppression of serum PTH concentrations in pre-menopausal women, investigated by Zenk et al., 2017.
