Sales and profits were up in Q2 at Raisio, with CEO of the €500m Finnish agro-food player Matti Rihko content its re-housing of key brand Benecol was paying off.
Benecol brand owner Raisio saw its sales fall 5.2 per cent to €86.4m for the quarter ended March 31, but emphasised its acquisitions policy that saw it pick up British snacks maker Glisten for €22.8m this year remained unchanged.
UK Benecol licensee, McNeil Nutritionals, says “daily messaging” of its core audience is the key behind its rise to leadership in the UK cholesterol-lowering foods market.
Raisio Life Sciences, maker of Benecol, may be starting to make
profits, but with the group facing a strike this week, and
continued problems at its chemicals unit, losses are looking likely
in the first quarter of 2003.
