More research is needed into the effects of Arginine and Citrulline supplementation on cardiovascular health and athletic performance, according to a recent review.
It has been more than a century since citrulline has been identified and codified as a standalone amino acid. Even after all that time research on whether the ingredient provides a true aerobic performance benefit is mixed at best, a new review has found.
Beetroot nitrates combined with citrulline helped amateur triathletes cover more distance in a standardized running test. It’s the first time these two longtime sports nutrition ingredients have been studied together in this way, the researchers said.
