Paul Schulick and his wife Barbi Schulick founded the iconic supplement brand New Chapter back in 1982. These days, Paul Schulick is focused on his newest venture, For the Biome.
Growing up, Schulick’s father was a pediatric physician and would often take Schulick with him when making house calls. Schulick said originally, he had plans to be a doctor like his father.
“In college when I was pre-med, I just didn't like it that much. I didn't enjoy the organic chemistry and I couldn't connect with it at all. So for me, it was herbal medicine that really spoke to me,” said Schulick.
To his father’s embarrassment, Schulick became an herbalist.
“When asked by his medical colleagues ‘what is your son doing?’ and when he’d tell him he's become an herbalist... it didn't quite get a rise from his colleagues.
"So I took a different path, and I'm happy for it, and what's interesting, if he could see me now or especially at my peak of my career when I was at New Chapter, he would have seen that we rubbed shoulders with scientists and professors and physicians from MD Anderson Cancer Center, Columbia University, Cleveland Clinic, University of Tennessee, Cornell...it's been a really wonderful ride," Schulick said.
