Braini gets patent on proprietary cognitive health blend

Neurotropic brand Braini says it has received a composition of matter patent on its proprietary blend of cocoon silk fiber, a seed oil and a blueberry extract.

The formula combines the company’s branded ingredient Peptylin, with is a protein derived from silk secreted by the domestic silk moth, Bombyx mori​.  The formulation also includes Ahiflower oil derived from the Bulgossoides arvensis​ oil seed plant that was developed by Nature’s Crops International.  Under the Braini formulation, the ingredient has been branded as NeurXcel.  The blueberry portion of the formula is sourced from wild Canadian blueberries.

The patent covers  a dietary supplement in powder form that applies to “a method of improving a subject’s cognitive performance.”

Braini completed the supply arrangement in with Nature’s Crops in 2019.  NeurXcel is unique among plant oils in delivering a high level of intermediate omega-3 steriodonic acid (SDA) in a non GMO plant source. At that time the company said it has research conducted at the University of North Carolina Asheville done among 18-31 years olds that showed 2 Braini capsules a day improved the participants executive function scores by an average of almost 8%.

Braini was founded by serial entrepreneur Troylyn Ball, who was searching for natural alternatives to care for her two special needs sons who were born with a gentic condition that included severe cognitive impairment.
