The dietary supplement fighting muscle loss and promoting healthy ageing

Livadur is a powder supplement by German chemicals company Alzchem, that contains a combination of creatine, magnesium, and vitamin D3. 

The supplement acts to “maintain and even build muscle, supporting individuals in achieving an independent and vibrant life, regardless of their age,” explains Antonia Becher, who works in marketing support for Alzchem.

Livadur targets individuals over the age of 40 who are interested in physical activity and open to incorporating nutritional supplements into their routine. 

Becher says the vision for Livadur, is to allow people to grow older and stay fit and active.

As people naturally lose nearly 1% of muscle mass per year starting at age 30​, maintaining healthy and functional muscles becomes crucial in supporting overall mobility and countering age-related ailments.

The product​

Livadur was launched in August 2022, aiming to raise awareness about muscle loss and its consequences through its "Fight Muscle Loss" communication campaign. 

Currently, Livadur is available in monthly packs containing 30 stick packs of powder, to provide a complete replenishment of the body's creatine stores. 

Each stick pack provides “the optimum daily dosage of creatine, magnesium, and vitamin D3”, and with its 100% bioavailability and specially ground formulation, Livadur dissolves completely in water, ensuring optimal absorption and utilisation by the body. 

Becher says EU health claims support the efficacy of ingredients in Livadur  highlight its potential to improve muscle strength in adults over 55 years of age, enhance physical performance during intense activities, and contribute to normal muscle function through the intake of creatine, magnesium, and vitamin D.

Creatine intake in combination with strength training has been shown​ to improve muscle strength in adults over 55 years of age and may be an effective method of preventing sarcopenia. 

Previous studies​ have found that a daily intake of creatine enhances physical performance during high-speed strength training in the context of short-term intense physical activity.
