What better way to kick off proceedings with the news that English Institute of Sport’s Emma Gardener will be presenting her thoughts as to how the Great Britain Womens Hockey team achieved a podium finish at the recent Tokyo Olympics.
With last year’s feedback firmly in mind 2021’s SANSE looks to include much more first-hand experiences and real-world applications and Gardener’s experience at the Summer Games certainly fits that bill.
A performance nutritionist, who has also worked with the England Cricket team, Gardener’s presentation, entitled, ‘Fuelling the Olympic dream,’ aims to give an insight into the role of nutrition at the elite level
There is no other event that exerts the kinds of pressures in delivering nutritional strategies at the highest level and Gardener will draw upon her experiences to inform the audience on the ever-increasing demands made by professional athletes, physically, mentally and nutritionally.
Joshua Schall, JS Consulting
But we’re only just warming up. Day two is where the NutraIngredients team have excelled themselves as we are delighted to welcome Joshua Schall, Owner and President of JS Consulting, a US-based management consulting firm, specialising in growth strategies for functional consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands.
Schall, an expert in consumer goods covering the functional food, beverage, nutritional supplements, beauty, and personal care sectors, is best placed for a presentation focusing on ‘America - The land of hope and opportunity.’
The session fits in nicely with the day’s theme that discuss opportunities for sports nutrition brands to move beyond Europe with a specific focus on the powerhouses that are China and the US.
Schall will ask where brands see key areas for growth and how they view the adjacent opportunities in sports nutrition such as gaming, beauty or dietary supplements and what it will take to win in those areas.
With previous experience at firms such as Musclepharm and Beast Sports Nutrition under his belt, Schall will look to hit home what it takes to make growth happen, change current buyer behaviour, and more importantly formulate a creative response to that insight.
This year, your feedback could not have been more important as we strived to adapt to the new working environment, reaching out online to deliver those all-important insights while nurturing the sports nutrition community to ever expanding circles.
Along with content-rich presentations, interviews and panel discussions involving key thought leaders, the Summit, due to take place on 12, 13 and 14 October, now allows delegates to choose the sessions they wish to attend as well as take part in 1to1 networking, sponsor hubs, live polls and Q&A sessions.
James Hudson, Gloucester Rugby
SANSE 2021 continues to offer more on Day three with more first-hand experiences from the professional sporting environment. Here, we warmly welcome Gloucester Rugby’s James Hudson.
Now retired, Hudson started his career at Bath Rugby, moving on to London Irish at the end of the 2005–06 season, where he moved onto Newcastle Falcons and then finally the Aviva Premiership team Gloucester Rugby.
No one is more apt to define and discuss the recovery process as Hudson takes us through recovery from an elite sport point of view and what aspects could be applied to the everyday consumer.
Now a Performance Nutritionist working with the likes of Vitality Group, Nutrition X and Arla Foods, Hudson will take the keynote presentation of the day to touch upon physical preparation, recovery and the nutritional discipline required to be up there with the best.
