OBE Beef, the largest certified organic beef supplier in Australia, and Nippon Meat Packers, an Australian processor, have formed an alliance to market EU certified organic beef products to the UK and Europe, Organicts.com reports.

The product will be co-labelled with the original 'Borthwicks' organic brand, a company originating in the UK, and OBE Beef.

OBE Beef has grown to become a group of 40 certified organic beef producers who manage over 16 million acres of unique Channel Country rangelands in Outback Australia.

Building on their commitment to quality traceability systems, the producers have undertaken a broadscale electronic individual livestock identification system, the report continues.

According to Chairman, David Brook "OBE wanted to complement its existing business development in Japan and USA. The specifications for Europe - as well as the committed environmentally aware consumer base, means that the UK and Europe would be a 'good fit' with our vision. We selected Nippon Meat Packers as their commitment to develop this market matched ours, along with a commitment to modern supply chain development.

" Our business success has been based on developing close working relationships with our clients and customers. The direct feedback to the organic farmer is very rewarding and inspires a loyalty which is invaluable. OBE farmers are committed to the organic industry for the long term which means the environment as well as the consumer are the beneficiaries."
