Zoe Foods to sell its flax and soy products via Wild Harvest stores
in 70 Shaw's supermarkets in the US.

Zoe Foods, makers of Zoe Flax & Soy products, has reached an agreement with Shaw's Supermarkets in the US which will see Zoe Flax and Soy Bars on shelves in the Shaw's Wild Harvest natural foods sections this summer.

Wild Harvest, which offers natural grocery, dairy, frozen and bulk food sections, is a store-within-a-store concept operating in about 70 Shaw's outlets throughout New England, and more Wild Harvest outlets will be rolled out throughout the year.

"We are thrilled with our new association with Shaw's and proud to be a part of their efforts to bring natural foods into supermarkets," said Tori Stuart, founder of Zoe Foods.

Zoe Foods offers four flavours of nutrition bars (apple crisp, lemon, peanut butter, and chocolate), all of which will be available in Shaw's this summer.

While women were the initial target audience for Zoe Foods, additional research has shown that flaxseed and soy has health benefits for people of all ages. The benefits of the two key ingredients have been widely reported in the press, and soy, which lowers both blood cholesterol and blood pressure levels, was approved as "heart-healthy" by the US Food and Drug Administration in 1999.

Flaxseed is acknowledged to contain a high concentration of omega-3 fatty acids, considered necessary for growth and development.

Zoe Foods has also announced the appointment of Stephanie Gladstone as director of sales. Gladstone has 16 years experience in the food industry with the Campbell Soup Company and most recently with Vlasic Foods International.
