Speciality chemicals business Cognis has launched a new chitosan-based skincare product, aimed at the professional skincare sector.
The Polymoist Marine mask is claimed to be a high-quality alternative to the collagen fibre masks also marketed by the company under the Polymoist Mask brand.
Although free of collagen, the Cognis Care Chemicals unit claims that Polymoist Marine provides the same benefits as the popular ingredient. Chitosan provides both the matrix and the active ingredient for the mask, which adds value to the product. Also, Polymoist Marine contains no preservatives or perfume additives.
Cognis said that scientific tests carried out by the Laboratoires Serobiologiques demonstrated that Polymoist Marine has a significant wrinkle reduction action even after justone treatment.
The product is suitable for every skin type, according to the company, and can be easily combined with other skin care products and treatment methods. It also has anti-irritant properties, so can be used on sensitive or stressedskin, after sunbathing or hair removal.
