The latest news from the build-up to Vitafoods, taking place in
Geneva in May - Cognis Nutrition & Health is executive sponsor
for the show, and Loders Croklaan Lipid Nutrition will present new
research on CLA.

Cognis Nutrition & Health announced this week that it is taking on the role of executive sponsor at this year's Vitafoods show, running from 13-15 May at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Cognis unit, which supplies speciality chemicals and nutritional ingredients to the global market, has exhibited at every Vitafoods since its inception.

Martin Weidner, business manager for Northern Europe at Cognis Nutrition & Health, said: "Geneva is a very convenient location for many of our customers and so the show has become an established meeting place for us. Vitafoods is an extremely important part of our marketing mix, not only providing a platform to present our product ranges and discuss new product ideas with customers, but also the opportunity to make new contacts and to meet members of the press."

The company will be presenting its new Tonalin CLA, a natural source of conjugated linoleic acid and hosting a series of sessions in the supplier seminars.

Other news from the show build-up this week came from healthy oils specialist Loders Croklaan Lipid Nutrition which is to present an overview of studies on conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in humans. Entitled 'Body Composition and CLA', the seminar takes place on 14 May during the three-day conference, organised by Leatherhead Food. The presentation will be given by Dr Inge Mohede, company nutrition manager.

Loders will also present results of the first set of studies in humans that clearly demonstrates stimulation of humoral immune (antibody) response by CLA supplementation. These studies investigated dietary CLA in two placebo-controlled, double blind human studies on specific immune parameters, both with and without antigen challenge. Results of one study will be published in the April issue of the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
