The certification verifies that NEC meets all manufacturing principles set forth by the TGA, the body responsible for regulating medicines and supplements in the region.

JoAnn Peterson, director of quality assurance at NEC, said: "This approval provides further validation of the quality of our products and of the manufacturing capabilities at NEC."

The company, which specialises in enzyme-based dietary supplements, carries out all its manufacturing in the US. However plans to manufacture in Europe are expected to be finalised in the near future.

The TGA approval offers access to a new market and opportunities for growth for the company.Enzymes in supplement form are becoming more popular, especially for digestive health but also in sports nutrition as a way to repair damaged tissue faster and to reduce inflammation. They are also used to improve absorption of herbals and plant extracts.
