Japanese vitamin maker Eisai has launched a natural vitamin E supplement manufactured entirely without solvents, which it claims offers superior absorption to synthetic products.

The company claims to be the first to produce vitamin E capsules without dissolving the product in other substances. Until now, natural vitamin E capsules were manufactured by filling soft capsules with vitamin E dissolved in solvents such as cottonseed oil or Japanese basil oil.

The new product, Juvelux E Pure, is made without use of such solvents. The novel manufacturing technology also results in a 30 per cent reduction in capsule size compared to former Eisai products, which makes it much easier to swallow.

The natural vitamin E offers superior absorption to synthetic or natural-type vitamin E, resulting in higher potency, according to Eisai. The company claims that the product effectively relieves such symptoms as stiffness in the shoulders and neck, and numbness or coldness in the hands and feet resulting from poor peripheral circulation.

The Juvelux range also includes Juvelux 300, Juvelux and Juvelux L. The new product will be promoted through various media including the brand's website.

Eisai is moving forward with plans to create a new subsidiary for its vitamins and supplement unit, previously known as the Food Additives and Chemicals division. The company, which does not yet have a name, is expected to be in operation by April next year.
