ADM Natural Health and Nutrition has expanded its range of soya isoflavone concentrates for use in food and food supplements.

Novasoy 700, with a minimum 70 per cent isoflavone content, is for supplements where consumers may find taking large tablets or capsules too "weighty". Novasoy 700 also has improved water solubility for easier use in beverage applications, claims ADM.

Novasoy 200 has a minimum 20 per cent isoflavone concentrate and is to be used in fortified foods or food supplements where a lower isoflavone contribution or a higher level of other soya bean components is required.

ADM previously supplied a 40 per cent Novasoy isoflavone concentrate.

ADM's Novasoy range available in Europe is made from IP non-GM beans. The company claims its manufacturing process maintains the natural profiles and ratios of the isoflavones in soya beans, and the products are a rich source of natural isoflavones genistin and daidzin, and the phytochemicals saponins.

ADM recently launched which uses patented technology developed by SCOLR to produce Novasoy supplements, alone or in combination with other ingredients. The isoflavones are released at a controlled, near-linear rate to meet daily nutrient intake requirements in a once-a-day format.

Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) is one of the world's largest processors of soya beans, corn, wheat and cocoa. The company has been building on its range of speciality food ingredients, bioproducts and nutraceuticals (such as vitamin E and phytosterols). Net sales for the fiscal year ended 30 June 2002 were $22.6 billion (€22.1bn).
