SourceOne Global Partners and American River Nutrition (ARN) have
formed a joint venture to market the latter's DeltaGold annatto
extract - a powerful vitamin E isomer believed to aid cholesterol
reduction and maintain healthy triglyceride levels and antioxidant
activity - to the dietary supplements industry.

Chicago-based Source One will provide sales and marketing expertise while nutraceuticals developer and manufacturer ARN will provide scientific support, product development and manufacturing know-how.

"The marketplace is demanding a more balanced natural vitamin E and this partnership enables us to deliver to our customers an appropriate spectrum natural vitamin E that reflects the nutrient profile found in the foods we consume," said Jesse Lopez, SourceOne president and CEO.

According to Dr Barrie Tan, founder and president of American River Nutrition, the desmethyl form of both tocotrienol and tocopherol, two types of vitamin E, have the potential to deliver health benefits.

He said that the company has applied for a patent relating to methods of use of annatto "including tocotrienols and tocopherols with spectrum including, but is not limited to, low alpha tocopherol, high delta and gamma tocopherols, high delta and gamma tocotrienols and mixtures with other extracts and/or nutrients."

According to Lopez, ARN's discovery and the subsequent development of DeltaGold is a timely response to the growing concern among the populace about cardiovascular wellness and a need for safe, efficacious products that make use of the latest scientific research.

DeltaGold joins SourceOne's existing portfolio of vitamin E products - Ginnovay palm tocotrienols, gamma tocopherols, rice tocotrienols and plant sterols produced by the China-based Gingko Group Biological Technology company.

SourceOne also holds the excusive worldwide license to the intellectual property and patents for the use of Sytrinol in dietary supplements. The citrus-peel derived ingredient is rich in polymethoxylated flavones (PMFs), which showed potential to lower cholesterol more effectively than some prescription drugs and without side effects, according to a study carried out last year by developer KGK Synergize and the US Department of Agriculture.
