Ingredient firms Sensus, Fortitech and Raisio have made new
appointments in the last two months while Yakult is shoring up its
Belgium business.

The inulin supplier Sensus appointed a new managing director, Joep van Wessem, on 1 April, to help build on the firm's growth strategy in functional foods.

The new MD has held various positions at international companies over the last 20 years, with a strong focus on the dairy industry.

Yakult's Belgium business also has a new managing director - Mathijsde Bruin, the former MD for the Netherlands unit. He will take over from Kioshi Oike who is heading to India on a new mission for the Japanese group.

The Belgian unit, which claims to have about a third of the Belgian probiotic market has also appointed Luc Caenen as its marketing manager.

Fortitech's Asia Pacific division also announced a new appointment in April. Chin Keong Wong, the new business manager, will manage Fortitech Asia's efforts to expand into key markets and work closely with customers on formulation and processing needs.

Meanwhile the board of plant sterol maker Raisio has voted to appoint the president of Raisio Nutrition, Olavi Kuusela, as chief executive officer's deputy.
