Canada-based Neptune Technologies will develop a new glucosamine
and krill oil blend through a partnership with Japan's Koyo
Chemical, it revealed yesterday.

The combination will be sold as a powerful joint health complex on the Japanese market, and by Neptune in the US and European markets.

Neptune says the product will have anti-inflammatory and cartilage regenerating properties.

"NKO by its anti-inflammatory potency will enhance the glucosamine benefits for our Japanese consumers," said Taro Terashi, president at Koyo Chemical.

Gang He, Asia sales director for Neptune Technologies, said the deal was important as Koyo have an extensive distribution network in Japan, through drug stores, direct sales, retail food chain and health care practitioners reaching 127 million consumers.

Koyo Chemical claims to be the first glucosamine manufacturer in Japan, and the first Japanese company to be food raw material GMP certified.
